School

so for this semester at PCC im taking beginning black and white photography, take black and white photos develop them, present tada' youre done... how hard can it be. well turns out developing pictures arent as easy as Rite-Aid makes it out to be. getting one enlargement took me about 2 classes = 4 hours and that was just for an "OKAY" print. i should have kept going and finding the perfect time and filter but after going through about 7 different photo papers and endless amounts of test strips. but i guess its kind of a love hate relationship because when im in the darkroom im hating it and wishing i could just go drop off my film at the closest 1-hour print place but once the pictures done drying and ready to be mounted i know thats all me and damn that feels good. here are some of my first prints, there not the best but there still my babies.

and another thing i missed about school were the lectures! thats when my doodling really got going. i doodle all the time but when its a lecture magic happens. my brain totally goes into the wonderful creative world of Doodle and the professors voice just becomes a distant never-ending buzzing noise but for some reason thats when my doodles become art. heres one i did the other day while my teacher was going over the fundamentals of contour drawings.

DROOL*

watch this thing in HD and FULL SCREEN!

7D 1000 fps from Oton Bačar on Vimeo.

saw this video and im simply amazed by the editing and how this thing was shot in general. after seeing this i kind of want to get the 7D again but i dont know how they got 1000fps (frames per second) thats insane because i think out of the box it shoots like 30 fps. where did the other 970 frames come from!?

VEGAN food is so...

GOOD! my cousin took me to this vegan place near my house for brunch and when i first saw it i was kind of skeptical because the placed looked like a dump. most of the time when i think of vegetarian/vegan places i expect the atmosphere to be really hip and cool but this place was not it. they just looked like some average thai people with a little shop, if the name was never "Vegan House" i would have guessed it to be some random fast food china place. but for what they lack in design there orange "chicken" makes up for everything. and for $6.99 during lunch its not a bad deal at all. remember its vegan so no chicken, its kind of like a big ball of breaded nothingness but it was the best damn chickenless orange chicken ive had. go check it out.

quickie

i saw this on my friends tumblr and at first i was kind of like what the heck is that then i took a closer look at the second part of the picture and got blown away. take a good hard look. some artists are on top of their game. i love it

Fast Lap!

today i went to Fast Lap in Mira Loma for some indoor gokarting for Andy Parks birthday. it was fast fun and we stayed for a good three or four hours. by the last race i was feeling sick. the smell of gasoline makes me dizzy and makes me feel like im getting motion sickness (meow. i know). on the track there was this little 12 year old kid who raced with us and beat all of us every single race. that kid was pretty damn good. i would love to go again, my friend was telling me about this place called K1 so maybe ill go check that one out when i have money.

L.Os

Today i went to Luigi Ortega's for lunch with some friends. its literally across the street from PCC. this place has philly cheese steaks, pizza and all sorts of other stuff. this place is such a guy spot, TVs everywhere, different sports going on it was nice. on their menu they have "exotic" stuff and since i love trying new stuff i got a Kangaroo Taco... i dont think kangaroos are very good for eating. the meat was pretty tough and too lean for me. i like my carne asade just fine. if you GUYS are ever in the neighborhood you should stop by and try there philly cheese steak WITH CHEESE WHIZ! so inside their restrooms they have little signs saying "DONT PRESS THE RED BUTTON" all over the restroom. and near the door theres a small red button. so what do you think i did...

and my mom got this from some of the hispanic workers at her work, she said its crazy spicy and since im a huge fan of spicy food i had to try it. the sauce is called "El Yucateco" and its freaking green! it looks lights watered down slime. but damn this thing has got to be one of (if not the) spiciest bottled hot sauce ive ever had! and trust me ive tried alot. if you guys ever see this shaddy looking bottle, give it a shot!

Black&White

im taking Black and White photography at PCC this semester so i was just looking through some pictures to get inspired when i found this collection of bw pictures. here are some of my favorites. you guys can check out the rest here. ill try to upload some of my pictures when i actually go out and take them

All For A Waterfall...

today i went hiking in Malibu because my friend Andrew said theres this WATERFALL at the end of the trail (and i swear he said we could swim in it) so we went on this short but tiring hike. the trail was only a couple miles (2-3) but there were parts that involved some pretty steep climbs and rope/stick. we got to the waterfall and the water fall was kind of a bust. we couldnt jump off the waterfall cause the water was too shallow and the water was brown, plus i saw a water snake poking its head out of the water so that was a no no. but we actually got to go up inside the waterfall which was refreshing cause my friend megan ( i hate you ) took about 10 minutes to move 2 feet and we were under the waterfall so we all got pretty wet but it was refreshing. even though the waterfall was nothing like i expected it to be it was totally worth it! next time im gonna bring shoes with actual grip and maybe some water.

Dark Side Of The Lens

saw this on a surfermag.com and thought it was worth the time to share! surfings my current obsession. i think im going again this friday. im pretty STOKED! haha

DARK SIDE OF THE LENS from Astray Films on Vimeo.

also im looking into buying a waterproof camera but theyre all so darn expensive especially the housings for the DSLRs. they go for over a thousand and all the waterproof point and shoots look kind of cheap. maybe ill just get the disposable ones :)
