Goleta Pier

this sunday we (me,james,david,henry moksanneem and his family) went overnight fishing at Goleta Pier (santabarbra). we left LA at around 8 and got there at 9:45 ish. Goleta pier is open 24 hours a day so we fished there till 1 then we slept in our church van until 5. no one could wake up so i went by myself and started fishing at 5:30am. i caught a total of 3 smelt, 2 baby halibut, 1 HUGE sandcrab and alot of small perch.


the sunrise was killer! the sunset was pretty nice too but i missed it =/

CERAMICS... so far

im taking ceramics at PCC and these are just some (not all) of the pieces i made so far. this was one of my first cups, this cups really more like a MUG! its heavy and useless. haha i messed up on the glaze for this one but i still kinda like it.




this is my favorite piece! it was suppose to be a cup but the handle broke off while i was glazing so now its a pencil/stuff holder! i like the whole tree look. LONG LIVE THE TREE i guess!

26 miles FIXED!

so sunday morning there was the LA Marathon and for some odd reason they didnt have a race for cyclists so some people organized a race to start at 4am before the marathon following the same marathon route. i thought there would only be like 100 people max but it was crazy! there were like 300+ people! me and sean biked the whole thing with our fixed gear bikes. no brakes, no gears, NON-STOP! it was alot of fun.



BURGER UPDATE!
so i went here last week its called UMAMI burger .
i heard really good things about this place and finally got to go with some cousins. their kitchen is strict! they dont let you change anything on the burger. so if you wanted to take out pickles they wouldnt let you. yeah theyre crazy but so are their burgers! there really good and the ketchup is good. you guys should check it out. they have more than one location. you guys should definitely stop by check it out.

LA Marathon

so i wanted to do the LA BIKEathon but theyre not having it this year for some reason. i wanted to ride on my fixie and see if i could do 26.2 miles nonstop! that would be crazy fun! and since the route is different it would be a cool change. but when i heard they werent gonna have the bike one i was pretty sad until today! i was looking at some bike blogs and came across this piece of gold! WOLFPACK HUSTLE. my cousin told me about this ride that he use to go on all the time and that they were pretty hardcore so i was alittle hesitant about riding with them but theyre having a morning ride 4am from silverlake to santa monica (the same route as the marathon) and since the roads are all blocked off for the marathon its gonna be traffic free! if anyone wants to do this with me let me know! i dont want to go alone.

Portfolio

there was an open portfolio for the graphic design program at art center today. it was for the scholarship program and it was open for public viewing so i stopped by. these are some of the pieces that i really liked.




im really considering applying to art center now but i cant decide what major. im leaning towards graphic design but advertising is so fun! haha someone help

im obsessed

...with white girls! haha this is a useless blog entry but i just had to share my love for white girls! haha i use to be most attracted to koreans and other asian types but now a day i find myself more attracted to white girls (no on in particular) and less attracted to koreans. its weird but i think it has to do with the media! all the movies and tv shows i watch have hot WHITE girls. never do you see good looking asians on tv. its pretty sad actually, its turning me against my kind! haha

so today i became a vegetarian...

like i said, today i became a vegetarian... for a day. i spent my day with three vegetarians. we went to a place in west covina called One World and i think that was the first meal in months that i didnt have any meat.

so let me go through the menu. for appetizers we had bbq chicken wings. 100% vegan! i cant describe it but it was delicious! we also had these other entrees of artificial beef and chicken which was really good except that it had kind of a spongy texture. so after the lunch we went over to riverside where they (brian and nathan) had a conference/presentation about vegetarianism. it was really good and i learned alot.

...but all good things come to an end. when i got back home i had 4 carne asada tacos at king taco. but i do plan on cutting down on my meat consumption and so should you!

the HAMLET

another hamburger place but this place is actually legit! pastor john took me out to dinner at this place called the Hamlet in pasadena (next to chipotle and panda express). this place was really good!
we had calamari and shrimp for appetizers and then gourmet burger sliders!

thats four mini burgers, something blue (blue cheese), caliente, chipotle and classic. the blue cheese one was my least favorite and the caliente was my favorite. the fries come in original, mesquite and garlic. the garlic fries were BOMB! but the mesquite werent that bad either. price range... this was way over my bar. the burger with fries were about $12 (drink not included. so if you ever want a really really good burger this is the place to go. but you might have to dig alittle deeper in your pockets. but totally worth it.hamburgerhamlet

i hope i find this amazing burger cause im getting sick of eating burgers and fries every single day! im just going to make this one short.
RICKS in silverlake, burger was just OKAY not the best. the cashier at the drive thru was pretty cute so i guess it wasnt a total loss. haha

ironic how im advertising burgers and a pro-vegetarian video in the same blog entry. this was just worth the share, this is not gonna turn me into a vegetarian but i thought it was interesting and now i feel like i should cut down alittle on the meat. im going to riverside on friday cause my cousins having a "seminar" or presentation about vegetarianism so ill probably keep you guys informed later on.

..another burger. i really think i should stop eating such greasy-fatty food! i feel sick! but anyways, Gus's Drive-In. this place is right next to my house on 3rd so i thought i'd stop by. let me get to the good stuff!

the burger tastes very... charbroiled i guess. so if you want that fresh off the grill taste you might like this burger, its not really for me though. but the FRIES! HOLYMoLEY! they were so good! haha theyre seasoned with what im guessing is Jesus dust?! it was really good. all of this was just over $7 (double cheeseburger fries and a drink) so it wasnt that bad of a deal but in my opinion its not "THE BEST." im suppose to to go have lunch with John Yoo on wednesday and i think were gonna go to another burger place so ill keep you guys posted!

JUN-TAO!

today my family came over and they wanted some dimsum so we went over to chinatown.im not really a big fan cause all i get is shrimp and im sick of it after like 5 pieces. but anyways this place was packed.


i just had to point that out on their menu.
and our chinatown adventures continue!







this is crazy! the guys making medicine out of dried SNAKE! he we telling me its for medicine and kept saying this medicine had no side-effects! but i just kept thinking to myself... but youre eating a snake?! haha


and some of the craziest origami ive seen in a while! chinatown has the most random/cool stuff. i love it.
